West Liberty head coach Jim Crutchfield is a co-winner, along with WVU head football coach Dana Holgorsen, of the annual Furfari Award as the West Virginia’s College Coach of the Year.
For the second season in a row, Crutchfield led his team to 30+ wins. He achieved an overall record of 32-3 and repeated at West Virginia Conference Champions in the 2011-12 season. This accomplishment comes after the Hilltoppers lost four seniors from their starting lineup in 2010-11. This was the second season in a row West Liberty made it to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
Crutchfield’s overall record stands at 207-43 and an 82.8 winning percentage, which is the highest active winning percentage in the nation at any level. West Liberty finished the season ranked No. 3 in the Division II Top 25 poll. Crutchfield’s squad also won a WVIAC record 60 consecutive conference games.
