Breaking Down The Tampa Bay Mountaineers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won’t be known as the Tampa Bay Mountaineers this upcoming season, but the team does have a heavy influence from West Virginia. A total of four players were either drafted or signed by Tampa Bay over the weekend including linebacker Najee Goode, cornerback Keith Tandy, long snapper Cody Nutter and tight end Tyler Urban.

Tampa Bay Times beat writer Stephen Holder was a guest on the Northside Automotive Statewide Sportsline and talked about those players. Holder said one reason so many WVU players signed with the Buccaneers is because of head coach Greg Schiano. He accepted the head coaching job at Tampa Bay after coaching at Rutgers for 11 seasons.

"He made it clear he wanted to select players he was familiar with. I think that was the case with West Virginia," said Holder. "He obviously is very familiar with those players having game planned against them."

Above is the complete interview with Holder.
