No. 22: Tom Wort

The Big 12 player ranked 22nd in the Metronews pre-season Top 25 Player Preview is Oklahoma junior linebacker Tom Wort.

Wort enrolled early back in 2009 to try to make an immediate impact on the Oklahoma defense. Wort was well on his way to doing that until he suffered a torn ACL during fall camp.

In 2010, Wort started nine games for OU and earned multiple freshmen All-American honors from various publications.

Last season, the 6-foot-0, 230-pound Texas native started 12 games at middle linebacker and recorded 71 tackles, two interceptions and 3.5 sacks. He missed one game last season because of an injury. Wort also led the Sooners in tackles in three games. Wort was also an honorable mention for the All-Big 12 team.
