Cobourne Signs With CFL’s Tiger-Cats

Former West Virginia running back Avon Cobourne has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. They went after Cobourne a day after running back Martell Mallett tore his Achilles tendon.

Cobourne played for Hamilton last season and finished fourth in the CFL in rushing yards with 961. The running back scored eight touchdowns and added 50 receptions for 459 yards for the Tiger-Cats.

This will be the 33-year-old Cobourne’s seventh season in the CFL. He led the league in touchdowns and rushing touchdowns in 2009 while winning his first of consecutive championships with the Montreal Alouettes. Cobourne last played in the NFL with the Lions in 2003.
