Two Men Accused In Museum Robbery

Two Beckley men were arrested Thursday in connection with the attempted robbery of the Huntington Museum of Art. Remington Wright, 23, and Deon Staunton, 25, have been charged with breaking and entering at the museum back on April 14.

The arrests came as a result of a two-and-a-half month investigation conducted by the Huntington Police Department Property Crimes Unit.

Police say Wright and Staunton were caught in the act of breaking into the museum by police on the morning of April 4, 2012. The two suspects fled the scene before they could be apprehended by the police.

Officers later found an abandoned U-haul truck on the grounds of the museum containing various items of evidence.

The evidence in the truck along with various leads in Beckley eventually led to the arrests of the two men.

Both suspects were transported to the Southern Regional Jail awaiting extradition to Cabell County.
