Power Restoration Slow In Fayette County

There are residents in a handful of Fayette County communities that probably won’t have electric service until midweek.

Fayette County Commissioner Matt Wender says there are residents in three areas that are still waiting. He says Layland, Danese and Ansted were still without power Monday afternoon, some 10 days after the June 29 storm.

Commissioner Wender says distribution lines on the Appalachian Power system are down and difficult to reach. He’s hopeful power can be back on in the communities by Wednesday.

Wender says the county wants to make sure residents have things made available to them they currently can’t get on their own.

"That they have water. That they have ice, hot meals," Wender said. "We try to make those things available to them that they can’t do on their own."
