Fatal Crash In Hampshire County

State Troopers say a chain of events caused a deadly accident on U.S. Route 50 in Hampshire County earlier this week.

Investigators say Elizabeth Whitacre, 68, of Shanks, was killed Wednesday evening after losing control of her car and sideswiping a tractor trailer traveling near the roadside park in Shanks.

Troopers say Whitacre lost control after another tractor trailer had crossed into her lane of traffic just moments before. She swerved to miss it, went off the highway and came back on only to hit the second large truck.

State Police are continuing their investigation.
