State lawmakers plan to discuss a variety of topics at their July interim committee meetings that begin Monday at the state capitol.
Three days of meetings are scheduled with Monday appearing to be the busiest day. Morning and afternoon meetings then will update the status of Mountain State University, the regulation of fireworks and an update on the Reconnecting McDowell project.
Monday’s meetings will also focus on the possible expansion of the state’s Medicaid program and an update on a new drug testing program that’s tied to workforce retraining funds.
Lawmakers will also meet Tuesday and Wednesday with only six meetings scheduled on Wednesday.
West Virginia’s elected leaders will play host to lawmakers from more than a dozen other states at the end of the week. The Southern Legislative Conference will be held in Charleston this year beginning Saturday, July 28.
