Two Victims Of House Explosion Die

Two people seriously burned in a house explosion in Putnam County have died.

Trina Clapham and Anthony Hawkins died Friday afternoon at the Cabell-Huntington hospital burn unit as a result of their injuries.

The pair were in the house on Martin’s Branch Road in Hurricane on Tuesday afternoon when it exploded. Both were rushed to the hospital with serious burns. One other person outside the home was injured by the blast.

At this time police do not know exactly what caused the blast due to the amount of damage caused by the explosion.

Investigators say firefighters treated the fire as a meth lab explosion because the home had a history of drug activity.

No charges have been filed at this time.
