Fire death in Ritchie County following explosion

PENNSBORO, W.Va. — The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a second fatal fire in West Virginia from this week.

The fire followed an explosion that took place at about 10:30 Monday night at a house on East Miles Ave. in the Pennsboro area. Two homes were destroyed by flames.

The victim was a 73-year-old man.

Two Logan County children were killed Monday morning in a blaze near Logan. Investigators said Dontarius Gardner, 3, and Shania Sydney, 4, couldn’t make it out of the back of their duplex on Canton Lane when an electrical problem started the fire.
