New lodge at Canaan Valley Resort to be unveiled

TUCKER COUNTY, W.Va. — The construction of a new lodge at Canaan Valley Resort State Park is completed.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin along with members of the public and other officials will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to mark the opening of the Canaan Valley Resort Lodge.

The new structure features a four story North and South wing that combined creates 160 total sleeping rooms. The new lodge includes eight suites and some guest rooms with fireplaces, balconies, ADA access, VIP suites and individual climate control.

The project covers approximately 3.5 acres and the lodge utilizes 94,637 square feet of new guest room and public space.

The revitalization and construction of the Canaan Valley Resort Lodge began in May 2012 and the structures were completed in August 2013. Decorative aspects continue in the public areas and some sleeping rooms.

The Canaan Valley Resort Lodge replaces structures that were nearly four decades old.
