Kanawha County man hit and killed by train

MARMET, W.Va. — Family members of a Kanawha County man hit and killed by a train Monday afternoon said it wasn’t unusual for Anthony Dawkins to walk on the railroad tracks.

Dawkins, 54, of Chesapeake, was struck by an empty CSX coal train at about 1:30 p.m. in Marmet near the intersection of 98th Street and Ohio Avenue.

Family members said Dawson was running an errand for his mother. They said he was very comfortable walking the tracks. Some said he may have become confused because there was a second train in the area.
