Man arraigned in Kanawha County murder case

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston man pleaded not guilty Wednesday in the death of an elderly man.

Anthony David Caldwell, 39, was arraigned on charges that he allegedly murdered 90-year-old George Molle, Jr. in the victim’s Kanawha City home in January.

Kanawha County Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey set a trial for June 23 and also granted a defense attorney’s request for a competency evaluation.

Investigators said Caldwell worked for a lawn care company that did lawn care work for Molle. They said a cigar box and tin can that had money in them were taken from Molle’s home.

Caldwell remains in jail without bail.
