CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced Tuesday that FEMA has granted his March 24 request for a federal disaster declaration following Winter Storm Thor.

The declaration will provide assistance for work done and the replacement or repair of damaged facilities.

Under the declaration, 29 counties are eligible to receive federal public assistance: Barbour, Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marshall, McDowell, Mingo, Monongalia, Putnam, Raleigh, Ritchie, Roane, Summers, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wetzel, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming.

“I appreciate the hard work of our state’s first responders and the West Virginia National Guard during the response to Winter Storm Thor and am grateful for their efforts to keep our residents safe,” Tomblin said. “This declaration will provide our state, counties and municipalities with the assistance and support needed to rebuild and move forward.”
