Two chapters of National Red Cross Organization to combine

MARTINSBURG, W.Va.–The River Valley and Eastern Panhandle chapters of the National Red Cross Organization have combined due to a restructuring.

The Morgantown based Northeast WV Chapter will serve 18 counties. Casandra Fritzsche will serve as the new Executive Director.

She says the merger may look like a large territory to cover, but there will be no impact to the services they offer.

“The merge may look a little bit like we have a big territory,” Fritzsche said. “We’re still doing the same thing; we’re just cutting some overhead costs.”

Fritzsche said she is excited about her new role, and praised the staff.

“We have amazing volunteers, we have an amazing board. And everyone’s incredibly excited to be working, especially in the Eastern Panhandle,” she said.

Fritzsche says they will continue to respond to house fires and other disasters, support military families, and offer emergency preparedness training.
