Police investigating stabbing in Harrison County

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. — Police are investigating an alleged stabbing in Nutter Fort that resulted in the both the victim and suspect being transported to the hospital.

Chase Allen Clay, 30, of St. Cloud, Florida, was arrested on charges including malicious assault.

According to authorities, crews responded to the scene along Maryland Avenue Tuesday night at approximately 9:40 to find Clay with blood on his hands outside the front of the house while others were calling for help from the inside.

The victim, Eric Gurney, was found with what initially appeared to be multiple stab wounds and scratches and was then flow to Ruby Memorial hospital in Morgantown. He is reportedly in stable condition and recovering.

A knife was located during the investigation.

Clay, who was a recent transplant to the area and living at the residence, was transported to United Hospital Center to be treated for minor injuries and then later released.

According to the criminal complaint, the confrontation began over pills after the two men had been drinking all day.

Clay was arraigned and sent to North Central Regional Jail with bail set at $25,000.
