N.C. man charged in Hedgesville murder arraigned

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A North Carolina man charged in the death of a Hedgesville woman is being held on $1 million bond after being arraigned Tuesday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court.

James Love, 37, stands accused of murdering Tracey McCauley, 52, at her Stonebrook Village residence off of W.Va. 9.

Love was being held Tuesday night at Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta, W.Va.

The victim was found lying on the living-room floor at about 8:30pm July 2.

Her hands and legs were tied behind her back with cords and she was covered with a blanket.

Sheriff’s deputies  have said they believe the cause of McCauley’s death to be asphyxiation.

The Herald Mail reports results of an autopsy have yet to be released.

Robbery appeared to be the motive for the crime.
