Suspect arrested in Martinsburg homicide

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Northern Virginia man faces charges in the apparent choking death of a Martinsburg man found dead Sunday morning.

Tommie Cummings, 51, of Arlington, Va., was arrested Monday in Virginia on a fugitive-from-justice warrant and was charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Edward Young, Jr.

Young, 50, was found dead around 11:00 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Martin Street near the Winchester & Western Railroad tracks in Martinsburg.

Police determined Cummings was involved in an altercation with Young and that Cummings choked Young until he died.

An autopsy in Charleston is scheduled for this week.
