Great Cacapon firehouse heavily damaged in fire

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. — Fire caused significant damage to the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Department building in Morgan County Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The blaze was reported at just after noon with flames and heavy smoke showing. Dick Myers, director of Morgan County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency management ,said numerous pieces of apparatus from West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia were dispatched to the scene.

Various reports indicated those on the scene were able to get at least one of the fire trucks out of the burning building.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office announced on Twitter that it was responding to the blaze.
