Dump truck driver killed after bed strikes bridge

DAWSON, W.Va. — A dump truck driver from McDowell County was killed Tuesday morning on Interstate 64 in Greenbrier County when the bed of the truck struck a bridge going over the interstate, sheriff’s deputies said.

Brandon Lockhart, 36, of Iaeger, was driving the truck at a few minutes after 6 a.m. with the bed in the up position. It hit the bridge near the Dawson exit. The truck separated from the bed and overturned in the median, according to deputies.

Lockhart, who was driving the truck for Iaeger-based RDD Trucking Company, died at the scene.
