COWEN, W.Va. — A Webster County deputy was shot Saturday evening but wasn’t seriously injured because of his bulletproof vest, authorities said.
The deputy was shot while attempting a traffic stop on Meadow Fork Road in Cowen at about 6:45 p.m. when the shooting occurred. The driver took off and the injured deputy followed. The deputy was later treated and released from the hospital.
Police are looking for a white man in his 30’s with long, dark, shaggy hair and a beard. He was driving a light blue Chevy Cavalier.
