Next stop grand jury for first defendant in Easter Sunday shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — One of the two men charged in the Easter Sunday homicide near Oak Hill will have his case bound over to circuit court following a hearing Thursday.

Derrick Crouse, 19, was arrested earlier this month in connection to the shooting death of Janet Garrett.

A grand jury is the next stop in the case of Derrick Michael Crouse, 19, of the Oak Hill area.

Crouse is charged with the murder of 48-year-old Janet Garrett.

Crouse and accomplice Matthew Underwood, 31, of Oak Hill, are accused of entering Garrett’s trailer and firing a single shot that killed Garrett.
