Boone County couple accused of embezzling funds from football league

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. — A Boone County couple faces charges of embezzlement and conspiracy for allegedly withdrawing thousands of dollars from the account of a youth football league.

Jeremy Johnson, 38, and Pamela Johnson, 35, both of Bloomingrose, allegedly withdrew $14,000 from the finances of the Seth Midget Football League, with an additional $3,200 received as “cash back” after purchases. The couple spent more than $1,100 while vacationing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Between June 2014 and July 2018, Jeremy Johnson served as president of the football board and Pamela Johnson was treasurer.

The Johnsons were released on individual $25,000 surety bonds. A preliminary hearing will take place within the next 20 days.
