Mason County man charged in sexual assault of minor

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — A Mason County man is facing charges of sexually assaulting a juvenile family member of the course of more than a year.

State Police arrested Johnny Donahue, 48, Friday night at the home in Mason County. The young victim tells police the abuse started when they were eight and originally occurred while the child and Donahue were staying in a homeless shelter. The abuse, according to investigators, continued at the home in Mason County.

Troopers say Donahue told them the incidents occurred while he was under the influence of drugs and he had no recollection of the encounters. He did admit to troopers during questioning he had a problem.

Donahue is charged with two counts of first degree sexual assault and sexual abuse of a minor by a parent, guardian, or custodian.

He’s lodged in the Western Regional Jail.
