Senate confirms Justice appointments, including former senate president

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Senate quickly confirmed 106 nominations Monday made by Gov. Jim Justice to various boards and commissions.

The list of those approved include former Senate President Bill Cole who was appointed to serve on the Bluefield State College Board of Governors. Cole attended the floor session.

The Senate also confirmed two new members to the state Parole Board that were named by Justice Monday. Former Gilmer Federal Prison Warden Jennifer Saad will also be the parole board’s new chairperson. Cedric Robertson, who had a more than a 30-year career with the Beckley Police Department, will also serve on the nine-member Parole Board.

Other confirmations by the Senate filled positions on the WVU Board of Governors, the Board of Funeral Service Examiners, the Environmental Quality Board and the Natural Resources Commission.

The Senate also appointed one of its own members, Sen. Bob Plymale, D-Wayne, to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education.
