One injured in Morgantown shooting

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Morgantown Police Department responded to a shooting near Tanner’s Tavern & Grill on Listravia Avenue in Sabraton at about 8:45 p.m. Monday, according to a press release.

The victim was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he received emergency surgery for three gunshots, the release stated. Emergency radio traffic on Monday night indicated the victim was shot in the arm and chest with visible bleeding but was able to talk to police. Other witnesses said they heard 3-4 gunshots near the time of the shooting.

Andrew Stacy, Morgantown’s public information officer, said the victim is not being identified at this time.

The shooting happened in an alley on the 2000 block of Listravia Avenue, according to the release.

Detectives worked throughout the night and are following several leads to get search warrants and conduct interviews, the release said.

Police believe the incident was “isolated and specific” and that the public is not in danger, the release stated.
