22 year-old killed in Berkeley County DUI crash

INWOOD, W.Va. — A Charles Town man faces several DUI charges after a fatal crash in Berkeley County.

Trevor Via, 24, was driving in the 1200 block of Nadenbousch Lane near Inwood at around 2 Sunday morning. Via allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll multiple times before striking a pole, according to a release from West Virginia State Police.

Marissa Knott, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe she was thrown from the vehicle.

A second passenger was taken to Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg for treatment. A third passenger was unharmed, according to State Police.

Via was charged with several DUI charges including driving under the influence causing death. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

Eastern Regional Jail records indicate Via has already been released from jail after posting bond.
