High school girls basketball Power Index: January 22

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Defending Class AAA state champion Parkersburg (13-1) retains the top spot in the second release of the MetroNews girls basketball power index, sponsored by Dominion Post Live. Greenbrier East (12-1) and Wheeling Park (11-2) are second and third respectively.

Fairmont Senior (13-2) is the top-ranked team among Class A squads. The Polar Bears are fourth in the index. Huntington St. Joseph’s (12-1) is fifth overall and tops in Class A. The Irish have defeated three teams ranked in the top 10 (Parkersburg, #6 Wyoming East and #9 South Charleston).
