PSC approves West Virginia American Water cases

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Public Service Commission of West Virginia approved an agreement Friday regarding water and sewer base rate increases for West Virginia American Water Company.

The parties agreed rates would rise by $23 million for water and $152,650 for sewer. The utility’s distribution system improvement charge will also be reset.

According to the PSC, the average water rate increase for residential customers will be $6.65 or 14 percent monthly. and residential sewer customers will see an increase of $8.33 or 17.5 percent monthly.

The change is effective Feb. 25.
