Woman dead after Roane County fire

SPENCER, W.Va. — A woman died in a house fire in Spencer Friday morning.

The blaze at a large house on Front Street was reported at about 8:30 a.m. An elderly man was able to escape the burning house. The victim didn’t make it out.

Several fire crews were on the scene. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
