No school Friday in Hancock County due to flu outbreak among faculty, staff

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. — All schools in Hancock County will be closed on Friday due to a sickness going around among faculty and staff.

Hancock County Schools Superintendent Tim Woodward said in a tweet Thursday, “Due to the large number of faculty staff out tomorrow with the flu all schools in Hancock County will be closed Tomorrow. I will send out a call tonight. Stay well.”

Woodward added that Friday would be the last snow packet day for the school system and he encouraged all teachers to work from home so the county can work on cleaning the buildings.

Woodward told WTOV-9 TV that there are 18 teachers out at just one of the schools in the district.
