I-79 reopened after Kanawha County crash

UPDATE: Southbound traffic is now reopened.

ELKVIEW, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Highways indicated an early morning truck wreck in Kanawha County will create a traffic detour for several hours.

The crash involved a tractor trailer and happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The truck was hauling ingredients for pizza. The driver was injured and taken to the hospital.

Since the crash, southbound traffic on I-79 has been diverted off the interstate at Elkview and is re-entering the highway at the Big Chimney exit.
