Roane County man killed in I-79 crash

 

BIG CHIMNEY, W.Va. — The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department confirmed an accident from Wednesday night claimed the life of a Roane County man.

Steven Cooper, 60, of Spencer died of injuries suffered when he crashed along I-79 in Northern Kanawha County.

Cooper’s car left the highway in a curve, crossed the median and the south bound lanes before striking a rock wall and landing in a ditch according to investigators. There were no other vehicle involved in the crash.

Authorities think he may have lost control do to a pre-existing medical condition. Cooper died after he was transported to the Charleston Area Medical Center.
