Former Huntington mayoral candidate charged in shooting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A former mayoral candidate in Huntington has been charged in connection with a shooting on the city’s west side.

Tom McCallister has been charged with malicious wounding, per authorities, after officers arrived at the scene of a shooting around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of 3rd Street West.

Investigators believe the shooting was a result of an argument between the victim, who is being treated at a local hospital, and McCallister.

Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
