Wheeling doctor found guilty for illegally distributing drugs

WHEELING, W.Va. — A Wheeling doctor was found guilty on Tuesday for illegally distributing controlled substances from a drug treatment center.

A jury found 60-year-old George Naum guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances outside the bounds of professional medical practice and four counts of aiding and abetting the distribution of controlled substances outside the bounds of professional medical practice.

He was also found not guilty of one count of aiding and abetting the distribution of controlled substances outside the bounds of professional medical practice.

Naum worked with others to illegally distribute drugs from Advance Healthcare in Weirton between 2008 and 2016. When sentenced, he will face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count.
