Kentucky man identified as victim of fatal crash with DOH truck

JESSE, W.Va. — A Kentucky man is dead after a collision with a West Virginia Division of Highways Truck in Wyoming County.

The crash happened on Route 10 near headed up Jesse Mountain around 5 p.m. Wednesday according to West Virginia State Police

“In the middle of passing another vehicle he ran into a DOH truck on the wrong side of the road,” said Senior Trooper Matt Shiflett.

Dead is Clarence Napier, 37, of Hazard, Kentucky.

“He probably started in a passing zone, but where the crash occurred, there was no longer a passing zone on that side of the road,” Shiflett said.

Napier drove a Ford F-350 truck and collided with the dump truck which was towing a trailer carrying a rolling machine.

The driver of the DOH truck was treated and released from Raleigh General Hospital.

No charges were filed in the fatal accident.
