Cabell County BOE fires school principal following security issue

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Cabell County Board of Education voted Tuesday to fire Meadows Elementary School Principal Connie Mize.

The board said the decision was based on Mize’s leadership actions at the school.

Mize was suspended Jan.17 a day after a man who was being chased by police was allowed into the school. Eyewitnesses said Mize made an intercom announcement as the man was trying make entrance into the school that there was a “practice” lockdown drill.

The school board’s vote was unanimous. The firing took effect Wednesday.
