The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said that sophomore Colt Adams was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred just before 9 a.m. on state Route 152 near Sam’s Gun and Pawn.

The crash happened in an area known as “all day curve” where a semi-truck and a SUV collided on the road.

Adams, who was driving the SUV, was a standout on the varsity football team.

He started at tight end and finished the 2018 season as First Team All-Cardinal Conference.

According to WSAZ-TV, Adams’ sister, an elementary student, was seriously injured in the crash. She is expected to recover.
