HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Two people were arrested Tuesday after Cabell County authorities found numerous exotic animals either dead or in bad health at their home.

The suspects, who were not identified, lived at a home in 2900 block on Hughes Street in Huntington’s Westmoreland neighborhood.

According to the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter, at least 20 animals at the home were dead, including an alligator buried in the backyard of the residence.

Authorities found scorpions, snakes and spiders at the home. The residents also allegedly bred rats.

A child also lived at the home, which authorities described as being in deplorable condition.
