Name released in connection with deadly crash on I-64 in Putnam County

SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. — A Florida man remained hospitalized Thursday after being critically injured in a car wreck Wednesday that claimed the life of the passenger in the vehicle.

According to Putnam County sheriff’s deputies, Robert Daiuto, 62, of Lauded Hill, Fla., lost control of his car at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday westbound on Interstate 64 near the Scott Depot exit. The car veered off the interstate right into a tree.

The collision claimed the life of Thanyarat Daiuto, 42, a resident of Thailand.

Robert Daiuto is being treated at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Authorities were taking information from the victim’s passport in an effort to get in touch with family members in Thailand.
