Former Marshall student appears in court for probation revocation hearing

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A former Marshall University student appeared in court Tuesday regarding a probation violation for a 2016 incident in which he was initially charged with sexual assault.

Joseph Hardin

Joseph Chase Hardin, 22, is accused of sexually assaulting two female students off-campus last fall. Marshall University expelled Hardin on June 11.

Hardin entered a Kennedy plea in 2017 to a misdemeanor charge of battery after being accused of sexually assaulting a female student, and was given three years of probation. The state said Hardin violated his probation during his most recent acts of sexual assault.

A pre-trial hearing on the latest charges is set for July 26.
