Man struck and killed along Interstate 79

WESTON, W.Va. — A man walking on the side of Interstate 79 Wednesday afternoon was struck and killed.

The man was near the northbound slow lane close to the Weston exit at just before 12:45 p.m. when a tractor-trailer traveling north hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured. He stopped his rig a few miles north of where the collision took place.

Weston police are investigating. Officers are being assisted by state police and Lewis County deputies.
