Barbour woman jailed in husband’s death

MOATSVILLE, W.Va. — A Barbour County woman is in jail without bail after allegedly shooting and killing her husband.

Carli Reed

According to a criminal complaint, Carli Reed, 23, of Moatsville, shot her husband, Marcus Fagons, during an argument at their Moatsville home Thursday evening.

Reed said she shot Fagons because she was upset with him for talking with “other girls.” The criminal complaint said she drove to her parents house after the shooting and called 911.

Troopers said Fagons was lying in bed when he suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene.

Fagons was an employee of the state Division of Corrections; having previously worked with the agency, he rejoined in March and served at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. The Division of Corrections expressed its condolences Friday afternoon.

Reed is being held in the Central Regional Jail on a murder charge.
