Woman killed in Jefferson County crash

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — A head-on crash early Sunday morning in Jefferson County claimed a woman’s life.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty, Tiffany Colangelo, 25, died of injuries suffered when the car she was riding in went across the center line and slammed into an approaching vehicle.

The wreck occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Old Leetown Pike near Kearneysville.

Dougherty said Dante McCarroll Jr., 22, of Martinsburg, was driving the car in which Colangelo was a passenger. He remained hospitalized Monday in a Virginia hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, David Weister, 41, of Ranson, was hospitalized in Winchester, Virginia.

The sheriff department’s accident reconstructionist is investigating the crash. No charges were immediately filed.
