Deadly 24-hours in Lincoln County; 3 people killed in separate collisions

HAMLIN, W.Va. — Three people died in separate traffic collisions in less than 24 hours in Lincoln County, authorities said.

Lincoln County High School junior Dylan Lovejoy, 16, of Hamlin, died Monday afternoon when the truck he was in collided with another truck on state Route 3 near Hamlin.

Early Tuesday morning, at just after midnight, a 36-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle on state Route 3 near Griffithsville. The initial driver did not stop but the drivers of two other vehicles did, trooper said.

A Dodge grill, believed to be from the first vehicle, was found near the body. Troopers are looking for the vehicle.

A third deadly collision happened Tuesday afternoon in the Alum Creek area of Lincoln County.

According to police, Betty Tyler, 70, of Alum Creek, died after the SUV she was riding in went across the center line of Midway Road and slammed into a parked tractor trailer. The driver of the SUV was injured and hospitalized.
