HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Twenty-one people have been indicted for their alleged roles in a drug distribution network between West Virginia and Akron, Ohio.
The indictments, announced Tuesday, regard the delivery of methamphetamine and heroin into West Virginia, primarily in Cabell, Putnam and Kanawha counties.
The FBI led the investigation with cooperation from various local, state and federal agencies. Agents were able to purchase large quantities of methamphetamine and seize both methamphetamine and heroin.
U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart said his office does not target people misusing drugs, but rather distributors and drug dealers.
“We may well be looking over your shoulder and you won’t know it until we tap you on the shoulder and put a pair of handcuffs behind your back and prosecute you here in the Southern District in West Virginia,” he said.
“There is no tougher district in the country than the Southern District of West Virginia,” Stuart added.
Additional charges may be announced as the related investigation continues.
