Online auction for Lakeview Resort wraps up

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — An online auction closed for Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa Thursday afternoon with a high bid of $2.25 million.

The person who made the apparent winning bid for the property along Cheat Lake near Morgantown was not immediately made public.

The online auction began Tuesday with a minimum bid of $1 million.

The resort was built in 1950. The property includes 412 acres, 187 rooms and two 18-hole golf courses — Lakeview and Mountainview.

Those taking part in the auction had to pay a $10,000 fee. The auction was overseen by Ten-X Commercial, an online auction company.
