Missing Braxton County man found

BRAXTON COUNTY, W.Va. — Authorities on Monday found an elderly Braxton County man who went missing over the weekend.

West Virginia State Police troopers received a tip from a hunter and searched for 74-year-old William Howard Monk with a K-9 unit, Shiloh.

Authorities found Monk in the Aaron’s Fork/Leatherwood area.

Monk was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston. Troopers said he is in stable condition.

According to his family, Monk was visiting a family member’s gravesite and got lost. His truck got stuck, and Monk chose to walk into a wooded area.
