Signing day recap: West Virginia’s 2020 football recruiting class

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Neal Brown’s first true signing class at West Virginia came into shape on Wednesday as 18 players sent their letters of intent to WVU.

“Our staff started behind on this class, but we had a really strong finish,” Brown said.

In addition to 16 previously committed players, the Mountaineers added a pair of new names Wednesday as defensive end Akheem Mesidor and wide receiver Sam Brown each sent letters of intent to West Virginia.

Brown said the Mountaineers aren’t done yet, with running back and another offensive lineman being top priorities for the February signing period. West Virginia has four scholarships remaining in this year’s class. Transfers Josh Growden, Jarret Doege and Alonzo Addae counted towards the 2020 scholarship count.

As things stand Wednesday, West Virginia’s recruiting class is ranked fourth in the Big 12 and 36th nationally by 247 Sports’ composite rankings of all recruiting services.

Last year, the Mountaineers finished seventh in the league and 48th in the country.
