New Year’s Day shootings reported in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington Police spent the first early morning hours of 2020 at the scene of shootings in Downtown Huntington.

Investigators said seven people were shot both inside and outside of Kulture Hookah Bar, located on Huntington’s 4th Avenue, right before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Cabell County EMS responded to the scene and transported some of the victims to a hospital for treatment.

Others were taken in private vehicles.

“Initial information suggests that this stemmed from a dispute between individuals and was not a random act,” Huntington officials said of the shootings.

Hours after the shootings, officers were still at the bar gathering evidence.

The conditions of the victims were not immediately available.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, Huntington Police said none of the victims had died from their injuries.
